Laminated elastomeric bearings are reinforced internally with one or more steel plates, chemically bonded during vulcanization. Each rubber layer is able to support vertical load and allow horizontal displacements and rotations. or resist horizontal loads and moments. They can be considered fixed bearings with limited horizontal load capacity or movable bearings with limited displacement capacity.
